Our Story

In 1994, our owner, Jacob Shannon began woodworking in Fairfield County Connecticut, though he contributes much of his foundational knowledge to an aviation class in high school in which he helped assemble a Kitfox Airplane. He attended college at Seattle Central Community College where he received his Associates in Arts and finished his BA in Education at Prescott College. During this time, Jacob also participated in two NOLS semesters: Semester in the Rockies; Semester in Patagonia.

After College and moving around the West, Jacob had his most wonderful twin girls, Abigail and Josie. They set out into construction in Denver in 2010 building their resume till 2015, when they opened Barns 2 Home. Though Jacob still holds his building licenses, with Barns 2 Home, he found a way to still be creative and build while also make a positive impact on the world around him by repurposing building materials.

Jacob still builds custom barn wood furniture at the shop, as well as sourcing and hauling the reclaimed wood for the shop. During his off time, Jacob coaches his daughter’s lacrosse team year round, something he’s been doing for 6 seasons and that he finds nothing but pure joy in!

Who We Are

Barns 2 Home provides Reclaimed Barn Wood, Salvaged Timbers and Recycled Materials, while reducing the carbon footprint upon our community.

What We Do

Barns 2 Home began in 2015 in Denver, Colorado when Jacob Shannon hung up his hat as a general contractor and began salvaging his first Barn. Barns 2 Home has grown to be Denver’s #1 resource for Reclaimed Barn Lumber because of the large quantities, sizes, and types of wood we have access to with our network of farmers from Pennsylvania to the Pacific Ocean. We offer milling, cutting, sanding, staining and coating options at reasonable rates for each wood order and we use FedEx to ship our material nationwide, for the peace of mind and schedule they deliver. From beams to planks and everything in between, we have the Reclaimed Lumber you need!

If you need history and character to complete your project, barn wood lumber is the way to go.
We are the folks to talk to.
